I'm a born-again hippie, so it's mandatory I recycle and preach the green movement.
Personally, I ain't doing it for the children, I believe humans should go the way of the dodo. I could care less about global warming (except what happens to the polar bears D: ) or things like that. I do it 'cause I'm cheap.
Think about it:
Bottled water costs money, so I drink tap water out of a water bottle. Mass produced vegetable produce is gross and over priced, so I grow my own. All grocery stores in my area charge for plastic bags, so I bring my own. Hydro is fucking ass-rapingly expensive, so I'm looking into solar and wind energy. Toronto has a limit on trash, but no limit on recycling and our "green" bins. We get taxed extra for trash, so I bloody well recycle.
If you don't wanna do it to save the planet, do it to save a buck. BE SELFISH FOR THE ENVIRONMENT! xD
It takes... what? An extra second and a half to turn off the faucet while you brush your teeth or to toss that newspaper into a different can? I recycle. Not only because it's good for the environment but because it really doesn't take much more effort than not recycling does. If it's good for the world and not much of a hassle on your part, what reason do you have not to do it?
But that's just me. I'm not trying to pick a fight with anybody or anything. X3
This whole green movement drives me crazy. People have gone way too far in some aspects and now green ads and stuff are everywhere. I see "going green" as a mainstream thing, something "cool" to do. It's all part of pop culture.
Besides, I have yet to see solid evidence of so-called global warming. Seriously, some say we're warming, others cooling, and there are a whole lotta different theories. But the majority have yet to settle on one.
I don't believe in "Going-Green." If I remember to recycle my cans or whatever, I will... But for the most part... I firmly believe we've come way too far way too fast for us to turn back and try to save something that does have the tendency to change.
This may not be natural, guys. But it's in our nature to bring ourselves to extinction. I'm not going to make an effort to try and save something that's already been destroyed.
She's an old planet. She knows how to take care of herself... And that's by slowly getting rid of us. [/skeptic]
